Organisations who trust SCC with their document management challenges

Derby City Council (DCC), is the local government unitary authority, responsible for all local government functions such as education, social, family, leisure, transport, and economical, for Derby, a city in the East Midlands region of England.

In October 2019, the operational print room was tasked to produce a detailed plan and strategy to achieve business outcomes of reducing costs and improving quality and turnaround time on all document and print projects.

DCC decided to implement managed print services but with print room production printers and finishing equipment to be included.

After looking at all the options and engaging with potential suppliers, DCC was impressed with the professionalism and knowledge of one.

They turned to SCC.

Nottinghamshire County Council (NCC) is the upper-tier local authority. In 2015, the county council foresaw the need for a partner print solution that could provide flexibility and integrated services across public sector organisations, particularly with Integrated Care Systems (ICS) organisations.

To support this transformation, NCC and its collaborating partners required a technology specialist to build and deploy a service wrap that leveraged the scan, copy, print, and mail solutions, while meeting the stringent Central Governments Technology Code of Practice.

They turned to SCC.

“As is the case for many businesses, the past 12 months and the Covid-19 pandemic have presented a number of significant challenges. SCC DS were able to quickly understand our requirements and rapidly implement a solution that allowed us to continue to operate in a very turbulent landscape. The introduction of a digital inbound and outbound mail service has allowed our staff to continue to operate effectively from any location. Our relationship with SCC DS has continued to grow and develop, as they present further service enhancements and digital innovations.”

UVu empowers organisations to manage content, documents, data, and back-office processes through a dedicated, cloud-based ecosystem, regardless of whether information resides within the UVu platform or third-party systems and repositories.

The platform formally launches in 2021 following 18 months of careful development, despite consecutive national lockdowns in the UK as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.

To support the development and launch of UVu, it needed a cloud partner capable of enabling growth and flexible enough to manage the challenges of the pandemic, whilst demonstrating expertise and passion for the project in equal measure.

UVu chose Oworx.

SCC Document Services helps businesses scale up their operation whilst saving money using its Document Production Unit (DPU), supporting periods of growth and enabling businesses to focus on strategic development whilst the most expensive and time-consuming day-to-day tasks are taken care of.

SCC Document Services offers a range of services and solutions that also support business continuity plans by harnessing new ways of working and futureproofing your business.

One of the UK’s leading online contract writing specialists uses SCC Document Services’ DPU to produce, pack and distribute final contract copies for signature, with the ability to scale volume from anywhere between 1,000-5,000 contracts per month, depending on ever changing demand.

Each item must be electronically verified before being sent for signature – a laborious and inefficient task with the requirement for strict online security. With the process outsourced to SCC Document Services, the DPU ensures verification and efficient production using its secure online portal to upload documents, delivering automated print ready production.

As a result, the business has seen a reduction in expenditure of over 75% against its previous model, equating to more than £100k per annum. The DPU’s scalable solution enables the business to predict costs and respond to changing demand, with the ability to cope with spikes and run successful marketing initiatives. The solution is fully secure, ensuring all data handling and verification processes are compliant with GDPR.

The DPU has supported customers during the COVID-19 pandemic, with SCC’s dedicated team of specialists on hand to tailor services and adapt quickly to changing conditions throughout the UK’s lockdown period.

“Improved cost efficiency was one of the main drivers for looking to standardise our printing requirements with a single supplier. I’m extremely happy with them…we’re so impressed we are even trying to see if they can help us with other areas of our business”

Victoria Swaker,
Strategic Buyer, Skanska

SCC Document Services offers a range of services and solutions from its Document Production Unit (DPU) that support business continuity plans and enable new ways of working, quickly and efficiently, whilst saving significant costs on print production and real estate.

SCC Document Services’ DPU supports businesses across all sectors, including education, for one of the UK’s leading universities.

The London-based university which wanted to reduce real estate costs whilst ensuring uninterrupted ease of access for staff and students – a vital factor in the solution design. This involved the replacement of the university’s onsite production facility to an offsite location, with a daily delivery service supplying printed materials within 24 hours and urgent requirements made possible by operating the production facility from a local SCC site.

A new Web2Print solution provides university staff with templated documentation for marketing and general teaching requirements.

As a result, the university has benefitted from real estate savings of over £80k per annum, improved finishing options through the use of Document Production Centre, management information and recharge data for each printed request and a predictable, scalable pay-as-you-go pricing model.

The DPU has supported customers during the COVID-19 pandemic, with SCC’s dedicated team of specialists on hand to tailor services and adapt quickly to changing conditions throughout the UK’s lockdown period.
